Last Saturday, we spent the afternoon watching a movie at Highpoint, and then as it was already dinner time by the time it finished, we decided to drop by Seared for a lazy dinner.
Situated outside on the lowest level (Level 1), occupying the space previously held by Kenny Rogers Roasters, Seared is fairly new on the block.
We had the choice of eating inside or out, but as there were people smoking in the outdoor area, we chose to eat inside. There’s nothing worse than trying to enjoy your dinner whilst breathing someone’s secondhand smoke.
The interior is bright and colourful, with both chairs and larger padded bench seating to choose from.

We looked over the menu, and Louis liked the sound of the Greek Lamb Skewers. I felt like something a bit cheesy, so I ordered a Chicken Parmagiana. For dessert, we decided a slice of cake (or rather, half each) from the cake cabinet was in order. Chilled water was complimentary so we didn’t need to order drinks.

Greek Lamb Skewers ($14.00)

Chicken Parmagiana ($16.50)

Chocolate Mousse Cake & a Coffee ($7.50)
The waitresses were polite and friendly, but not overly attentive, given that it wasn’t peak dinner hour. But when you did catch their attention they would follow through with your request reasonably quickly.
My Chicken Parmagiana was fairly large, but was also thick and juicy as well.
At some places, they give you what looks like a huge parma that covers the plate, but it’s beaten so thin it’s just dry and tasteless.
The ham and cheese on top was decently portioned as well, so you had a bit of everything upto the last bite.
The salad was really just garnish, as there was no dressing to give it any flavour, so I felt a bit like a rabbit munching on it.
Chips were fairly decent - not too much salt, and they weren’t limp or too crispy. The ones underneath the parma did get a bit limp though, so probably better if they’d ditched the garnish and put them to the side.
Another table ordered some wedges, and they looked pretty good as the waitress went past with them. Might try some as a snack another day.
Unfortunately Louis’ Lamb Skewers weren’t as enjoyable - I tried a piece of the lamb and it was a bit tough and tasteless. Also the portion size was pretty small for the price. To be fair, I almost always overcook lamb myself. Perhaps they shouldn’t offer these more specialised dishes until they master them properly?
The mousse cake was gooood. Nice and chocolatey. Well paired with a coffee, they balanced eachother out well. One word of warning though - if you’ve had a big meal, you may want to share your piece as the slices are quite large for just one person. If you don’t want a coffee though, the cake slices by themselves are $6.50.
Depending on what you order your experience might be good, or not so good - as we discovered. Visit with friends and order a bunch of things, and if there’s something that isn’t so good you won’t be so bummed. Worth a look.
